“Developmental origins of osteoarthritis: an epigenetic perspective”
Dr Sarah Rice, Biosciences Institute, Newcastle University
Dr Sarah Rice is a Versus Arthritis Career Development Fellow and Tenure Track Fellow (Newcastle University, UK) with extensive research experience in the interplay between DNA methylation and common genetic variants in the pathogenesis of osteoarthritis.
The research focus of Dr Rice’s newly established research group is to identify tissue-specific gene enhancers that can influence the risk of musculoskeletal disease (osteoarthritis and osteoporosis) during both human skeletal development and in older age (https://research.ncl.ac.uk/ricelab/). This work encompasses the role of the genome and epigenome upon enhancer function will apply multiomics technologies along with Cas9 modulators.
